Caitlin's Smiles is dedicated to sharing smiles and laughter with children facing chronic or life threatening illnesses. Founded in 2004 in memory of Caitlin Hornung, the non-profit organization distributes arts and crafts kits to hospitals, giving kids an outlet for creativity and the means to heightened feelings of self-worth. Caitlin's Smiles recognizes children as unique individuals and strives to heighten their feelings of self-worth and competency by providing them with opportunities to be creative and successful with a variety of creative art experiences.
In 2016, Caitlin's Smiles provided over 2,300 Bags of Smiles, 2,400 toys, 120 coping kits, and 9,500 craft kits to Lancaster General Hospital, Penn State Specialty Clinic Lancaster, Ephrata Hospital in Lancaster County as well as Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey.
provide a Bag of Smiles overflowing with crayons/markers, coloring activities, journal, play-doh, craft kits, cards and books to a child in the hospital.
provide a box of 250 assorted craft kits (such as door-hangers, bookmarks, necklace, bracelet, or lanyard kits, etc) to a hospital's pediatric unit.
host volunteers for a month of service to fill hospital orders and assemble craft kits.
