The Lancaster County Envirothon program and the Lancaster County Youth Conservation School are two unique and valuable education programs supported by the Conservation Foundation of Lancaster County, a non-profit organization with the primary goal of providing educational and conservation activities that will create a sustainable future for all citizens of Lancaster County. Students participating in the Lancaster County Envirothon program and the Lancaster County Youth Conservation School kindle scientific reasoning, problem solving skills, leadership, and stewardship of our local natural resources with a global perspective. Many students that participate graduate college with degrees in agriculture, conservation, education, and environmental sciences. Most importantly, students realize through hands on and minds on learning that their actions truly make a difference.
In the classroom and in the field the Envirothon program and Conservation School programs help to disconnect the current generation from plugged-in virtual worlds and enable them to explore the natural resources around them.
Send a student age 14-16 to Conservation School, July 22-28, 2018. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Conservation School is a one-of-a-kind residential field school experience that welcomes a class of new students each year.
Support 5 teams or 25 students at the Lancaster County Envirothon. The Envirothon program is open to students in grades 3-12. The many benefits of the program include teamwork, problem solving, and scientific reasoning.
Provide transportation for Conservation School students to reach streambank restoration project on Middle Creek. The project on a local farm involves students building a mudsill to promote aquatic habitat and streambank stabilization preventing erosion.
