LancasterHistory.org exists to engage and educate the public about the people, places, and events that shaped Lancaster County within the broader context of the history of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the United States of America. As custodians of a complex past, we collect, preserve, exhibit, and make accessible materials chronicling Lancaster County’s heritage as we seek to engage audiences in multi-layered stories of that past.
LancasterHistory.org provides students with authentic and engaging interactions with historic objects and documents, cares for and conserves historic treasures of Lancaster County, and creates high-quality educational events and programs for all ages.
pay for 10 local students to have hands-on learning through a primary source workshop at LancasterHistory.org.
give a class of 20 students access to President Buchanan’s Wheatland home, where they discover the dilemmas and decisions that he faced during the challenging times leading to the Civil War.
cover the cost for 50 students to participate in a “Sleuthing Through the Past” workshop in which they will examine documents, artifacts, and historic events to better understand Lancaster County’s rich history.
