The PA Breast Cancer Coalition is a statewide nonprofit organization that exists to help the nearly 12,000 women in this state who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, to support the families of the 2,200 women who will die from it and to serve as a resource for the hundreds of thousands more women currently living with the disease. We accomplish this through statewide educational programming, legislative advocacy and breast cancer research grants. We are passionately dedicated to our mission of finding a cure now…so our daughters won’t have to.
The PA Breast Cancer Coalition holds an educational Conference each October in Central PA; free Friends Like Me Care Packages for Lancaster County cancer survivors are distributed each year; we provide Free Patient Advocacy service with 1:1 consultation for anyone in the county; and we manage a Traveling Photo Exhibit outreach program, which was recently displayed at the PA College of Health Sciences in Lancaster earlier this fall.
fill the PBCC's bright pink minivan with gas to help us journey across the state with our Traveling Photo Exhibit: 67 Women 67 Counties, Facing Breast Cancer in Pennsylvania. This inspirational exhibit features survivors from every county in PA, and it encourages women to learn about and practice early detection through yearly mammograms, monthly breast self-exams, and annual clinical exams.
send a Friends Like Me Care Package to a newly diagnosed breast cancer survivor in Pennsylvania. This package is filled with educational resources, information and personalized "soft-touches" such as a scarf and hat to feel like a warm hug from a friend during a challenging time.
cover the costs of the travel, hotel and registration fees for a survivor wanting to attend our 2018 conference. By removing the financial component for breast cancer survivors, it will allow them to experience all of the learning, discovery, camaraderie and fun that this educational conference offers each year.
