RULES & FAQ's
Who can donate?
Anyone with a credit card and access to the internet can donate. This website, extragive.org, will be open on November 18, 2016 from 12 midnight to 11:59:59 PM EST to receive donations to approved organizations.
What forms of donations are accepted?
All donations must be made online. MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express donations will be accepted through extragive.org on November 18, 2016 during the Extraordinary Give.
Is the website secure?
Yes. Credit card transactions are secure and backed by a PCI Level 1 secure service provider certification. Our technology partner, Kimbia, is the recognized technology leader for fundraising initiatives of this type around the country.
What local organizations are eligible to participate?
All organizations participating in the Extraordinary Give serve residents of Lancaster County, are registered as 501(c)(3) with the Bureau of Charitable Organizations and have a current audit or independent financial review. Organizations must have completed an application process by October 3, 2016 to participate.
Are the gifts tax-deductible?
Yes! All donations are tax deductible. You will receive a receipt via email immediately following your donation.
Is there a minimum gift size?
Yes, the minimum donation amount is $25.00.
Can I give to multiple organizations?
Yes! You can use the "multi-give" option on the home page to streamline your giving process. If you click on a specific organization page and make a donation, you will be prompted to make another gift if you choose.
How does the "stretch pool" work?
Every dollar donated to local organizations will be stretched by at least $250,000 from the Community Foundation, our presenting sponsors Rodgers & Associates and other corporate sponsors. All participating organizations will receive a pro-rated portion of this "stretch pool." For example, if an organization receives 3% of the total donations raised during the Extraordinary Give, then that organization will receive 3% of the stretch pool. Participating organizations are also eligible for a portion of $50,000 in prizes.
What's this I hear about a business match?
This year, the Foundation is offering an optional “business match” feature that you and your organization can use as an incentive for your donors. If your organization has secured any matching funds from a business outside of the Extraordinary Give, you can list that total on your ExtraGive profile page to encourage more donations! If you don’t have business matching dollars yet, or do not plan to secure any, leave the options blank. You are not required to use the feature and can always come back and add a business match if you secure a commitment after submitting this application.
(Example: Business A has told you they will match $5000 when your Extraordinary Give campaign reaches that amount. To display this you would set your match threshold to $5000 and it will appear on your ExtraGive profile on the event day. You have the option of uploading the company’s logo as one of your pictures to show your thanks for the additional commitment of funds and/ or thanking the corporate donor in your description. After the event, Business A will cut your organization a check directly for the match amount they committed to you. Remember that any business matching dollars secured by your organization outside of the event will not be counted for the stretch pool. Only donations made by credit card through the Extragive.org portal during the event day are eligible to receive stretch pool dollars.)
What is a Golden Ticket?
A Golden Ticket is an additional $1,000 grant prize added to an organization's total. Example: A donor makes a $25 gift. That donor is randomly selected to have the Foundation add $1,000 to that organization's donations. The organization receives not $25, but $1,025! Golden Ticket prizes will be randomly selected by computer from all donations made during each appointed time frame. Learn more about the Golden Ticket Prizes here.
Can I make a donation through my business?
Yes. Each donation page has an optional Donating Business field if you are making a donation through your business.
What is a "unique donor?"
A "unique donor" is defined as one instance of a name and one instance of a credit card number. Each must be unique.
Do I receive a tax receipt from the nonprofit?
No, you will receive a tax receipt via email for your online gift from the Lancaster County Community Foundation. Your donation will be passed from the Community Foundation directly to the organization(s) you chose with stretch dollars attached. This year, you can choose to show all of your donations on one tax receipt.
Is the Community Foundation charging organizations to participate?
Is the Community Foundation generating any revenue from the project?
No. As a matter of fact, the Community Foundation along with presenting partners Rodgers & Associates and other corporate partners, has committed to a stretch pool and prizes totalling at least $300,000, as well as $150,000 to cover nearly all the costs of this project.
Are there fees associated with donations to the Extraordinary Give?
There will be a fee of 4.99% per donation assessed to cover credit card provider charges, technology platform, and processing incurred through our technology partner. Donors will receive a tax deduction on the full donation amount. The total gifts to each organization, before fees, will be used as the basis for determining the stretch amount.
