RULES & FAQ's
Who can donate?
Anyone with a credit card and access to the internet can donate. This website, extragive.org, will be open on November 17, 2017 from 12 midnight to 11:59:59 PM EST to receive donations to approved organizations.
What forms of donations are accepted?
All donations must be made online. MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express donations will be accepted through extragive.org on November 17, 2017 during the Extraordinary Give.
Is the website secure?
Yes. Credit card transactions are secure and backed by a PCI Level 1 secure service provider certification. Our technology partner, Kimbia, is the recognized technology leader for fundraising initiatives of this type around the country.
What local organizations are eligible to participate?
All organizations participating in the Extraordinary Give serve residents of Lancaster County, are registered as 501(c)(3) with the Bureau of Charitable Organizations and have a current audit or independent financial review. Organizations must have completed an application process by October 2, 2017 to participate. Applications will be open starting June 29.
Are the gifts tax-deductible?
Yes! All donations are tax deductible. You will receive a receipt via email immediately following your donation.
Is there a minimum gift size?
Yes, the minimum donation amount is $25.00.
Can I give to multiple organizations?
Yes! You can use the "multi-give" option on the home page to streamline your giving process. If you click on a specific organization page and make a donation, you will be prompted to make another gift if you choose.
How does the "stretch pool" work?
Every dollar donated to local organizations will be stretched by at least $500,000 from the Community Foundation, our presenting sponsors Rodgers & Associates, The S. Dale High Family Foundation, and our other corporate sponsors. All participating organizations will receive a pro-rated portion of this "stretch pool." For example, if an organization receives 3% of the total donations raised during the Extraordinary Give, then that organization will receive 3% of the stretch pool. Participating organizations are also eligible for a portion of $50,000 in prizes.
What's this I hear about a business match?
Some organizations will have a business match option during the day of the ExtraGive. These are fun "extra" incentives to contribute to your favorite organizations and maximize the impact of your dollars! Not all organizations will have matches, so keep an eye out in the upper right-hand corner of an organization's profile page for match information if it's available. If you are a participating organization, read more about how the business match works in the FAQ download at the bottom of the page.
What is a Golden Ticket?
A Golden Ticket is an additional $1,000 grant prize added to an organization's total. Example: A donor makes a $25 gift. That donor is randomly selected to have the Foundation add $1,000 to that organization's donations. The organization receives not $25, but $1,025! Golden Ticket prizes will be randomly selected by computer from all donations made during each appointed time frame.
Can I make a donation through my business?
Yes. Each donation page has an optional Donating Business field if you are making a donation through your business.
What is a "unique donor?"
A "unique donor" is defined as one instance of a name and one instance of a credit card number. Each must be unique.
Do I receive a tax receipt from the nonprofit?
No, you will receive a tax receipt via email for your online gift from the Lancaster County Community Foundation. Your donation will be passed from the Community Foundation directly to the organization(s) you chose with stretch dollars attached. This year, you can choose to show all of your donations on one tax receipt.
Is the Community Foundation charging organizations to participate?
No! The Lancaster County Community Foundation does not charge to participate, nor take any proceeds from the ExtraGive in any way.
Is the Community Foundation generating any revenue from the project?
No. As a matter of fact, the Community Foundation along with presenting partners Rodgers & Associates, The S. Dale High Family Foundation and other corporate partners, has committed to a stretch pool and prizes totalling at least $500,000, as well as $150,000 to cover nearly all the costs of this project.
Are there fees associated with donations to the Extraordinary Give?
There will be a fee of 4.99% per donation assessed to cover credit card provider charges, technology platform, and processing incurred through our technology partner. Donors will receive a tax deduction on the full donation amount. The total gifts to each organization, before fees, will be used as the basis for determining the stretch amount.
