Welcome! We are proud to host the ExtraGive and we're glad you are here.
At the Community Foundation, we embolden the extraordinary individuals, businesses, and community benefit organizations (CBOs) that enhance our lives in Lancaster County. Through stewardship of our community's endowment, making strategic grant investments, and providing philanthropic counsel to organizations and individuals, the Community Foundation plays a unique role in supporting our shared future for generations to come.
Today, the ExtraGive is a community celebration of giving inspiring thousands of individual donations and shining a light on the work of our community benefit sector. Since we launched the first Extraordinary Give in 2012, our community has raised more than $100 Million for regional organizations. Donations per capita in Lancaster County are among the most generous in the nation, and it's all thanks to the dedication of the participating organizations, members of our community, and sponsors who help stretch every dollar that is donated. The Community Foundation continues to be the ExtraGive's largest contributor and is proud to offer the ExtraGive as a gift to our community.
Organizations participating in the ExtraGive must meet these criteria to participate:
- Be registered as a 501c3 with the Bureau of Charitable Organizations
- Serve residents of Lancaster County
- Provide an audit or independent financial review
- Provide a nondiscrimination policy as is consistent with their legal requirements.
The Foundation is honored to support thousands of donors as they come together on one day to give to their favorite organizations or to new causes that align with their passions and values. While organizations must meet the above criteria to participate, the Foundation does not screen or select organizations based on their charitable purposes or missions. Therefore, approval of an organization’s participation does not constitute an endorsement of the organization or its mission by the Foundation or any of our partners. Each organization’s page provides its mission, but not necessarily detailed information on all its programs. For your additional research, each organization’s page includes a link to their website to provide more information on programs and use of funds.
In 2024, the Lancaster County Community Foundation is celebrating 100 years of investing in Lancaster County. At the Community Foundation, philanthropy is for everyone.
